Our family will soon have an 18th little Richardson!
We were not planning to adopt again, but we were approached by a social worker from a large children’s hospital and asked if we would consider adopting a 4 year old medically complex princess who has spent her entire life in the hospital. After asking lots of questions and researching some medically needs that are new to our family, we said “yes” once again.
One of our core beliefs as a family is that children should not grow up in institutions, whether an orphanage or a hospital, but in families. Though Miss S’s medical and social needs have kept her inside a hospital for 4 and a half years, we hope to have her home with us within the next few weeks.
Chris and I have spent the last several months doing all the paperwork, visiting Miss S many times in her hospital room in Ohio, and speaking to many lawyers and different agencies trying to figure out how to make this unconventional adoption happen. We will be making several trips a month to her current out of state hospital for continued care for our special girl.
We are now in the home stretch! Please join us in prayer for Miss S’s transition into family life, her medical needs, and for the finances to come together to make this all happen.
We broke out of the hospital! the adoption still has a long way until finalization but her life outside of the walls of the hospital has begun!
