Charlie and Alyssa Schott

are adopting a child from Uganda

Love makes you do CRAZY things, and that's what we feel like we're announcing right now. Many of you know either Charlie or Alyssa, but may not have met them together yet. They have been dating since June of last year when God brought Alyssa back from Uganda. Over the past year they have fallen in love quickly, and were on a committed path to marriage when things got a bit shaken up.

While Alyssa was in Uganda she briefly fostered a child, 'Zoey' (pseudonym), for about two months. She then continued to have a close relationship with her through Ekisa, even being right next her when she experienced a traumatic medical event in 2021. Alyssa has thought for a long time about the possibility of adopting Zoey, but the complications of her case and Alyssa's life hadn't made it quite possible.

Over the last few months various new events have created a small doorway of opportunity and with much prayer and consideration Charlie and Alyssa have decided to push that door open and move towards making Zoey their daughter forever. This is a huge undertaking, not just for typical reasons, but also because it expedites their relationship timeline and adds a whole new layer to their lives.

While they understand this will be difficult, they are also certain that Zoey will make every step worth it, and that God will not lead them where he's not already been. They are already excited by the community and support they know they have around them, and can't wait to share this journey with you all.

Please note that while the anticipated cost is around $50,000 the plan is to incur this total through crowdfunding, fundraisers, grants, and personal funds.
