Many of you have known for the last 10 years we have been trying to grow our family through adoption. Well after all the waiting we were finally matched with a child from Haiti and will be bringing her home in the next 1-2 years. The day we honestly weren't sure would ever come is finally approaching and we are so excited. With the help of many of you, we were able to pay the first installment almost 10 years ago and since then have been paying to update paperwork, trainings, and homestudy fees. We just completed the 2nd installment of $12,000, and have another big payment at the end of this process. In total we will be paying around $38,000. We know and trust the Lord is going to provide, whether through our own means, or the generosity of others. We cannot wait to see Him work! While this will be our first adoption we plan on growing our family again with a second (domestic) adoption. This process we are hoping to start in the next couple of months so that we could be settled before bringing our Haitian baby home.
We are so excited to see things moving forward! We were able to make the 2nd installment because of Jordan's overtime this Christmas, praise God!
We also officially accepted the referral of our little girl, meaning we said yes to adopting her. We wish we could share her name and pictures with you all now but legally we cannot.
Today we had our first official meeting call. We were able to facetime with her and a translator and learn a little bit more about her. As you can imagine facetiming a 5 year old that doesn't speak English or know who you are.... it went really well.... not. BUT seeing her and somewhat talking to her made it all feel more real and hopefully next time we will be able to introduce the kids. We will have to complete 2-5 "bonding meetings" before moving forward. This first one took a month to schedule so we are hoping the next ones will happen faster. Our prayer is that the two years it takes to bring her home will turn into 6 months instead.
