We have BIG news to share as we are beginning the journey of becoming parents through adoption! Our hearts are full of hope and excitement and we would love to share this adventure with you!
For those who may not be familiar with our story, Dave and I have been married since 2012. Dave retired from the U.S. Army after 17 years of service, and I am a Kindergarten teacher of 20 years and counting. We have been trying to grow our family since 2014. After ten years of infertility struggles, including 3 rounds of IVF and the heartbreaking losses of 4 babies to miscarriage, we found out in the summer of 2024 that IVF was no longer an option for us. Courtney required a hysterectomy and that ended our ability to carry a pregnancy. We have put in the love, time, and soul-searching needed to grieve and work through things together with the assistance of a wonderful counselor over the last 2 years. We are ready to move forward and find Baby Z!
We are hoping to soon match with an expectant mother looking for a hopeful adoptive family like ours. We’re praying and ready for you, Baby Szymke! (Our pups, Franklin and Chip, would love another playmate too!)
We are Home Study approved and beginning a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to learn the cost of completing an adoption through a national agency is currently quoted at $77,000! After 3 rounds of IVF and this daunting news, we are working to fundraise as much as possible to help bring our baby to us and to ease the financial strain that often overwhelms adoptive parents. We can do hard things!
We hope that by inviting you into this process and bringing awareness to our adoption plans, you will see yourself as part of the bigger family and community celebrating Baby Z as he/she grows up.

Update 5/7/26
June 7, 2026We continue to dream big and love even bigger as we await our match! Yesterday we were part of the local Art on the Side festival and promoted our upcoming Color Splash Camp, an art and STEM workshop for kids to be held in July. Proceeds from this event will also go toward our adoption journey. Being creative and having a way to give back to our community makes this time of waiting and hoping for our match a little softer. We were so happy for a couple we know to have recently brought their daughter home and have faith that our time to welcome a little one will come too. Update 4/1/26: Over the Rainbow
April 1, 2026The support of our village is incredible and we are thankful and so proud of the way this rainbow workshop came together yesterday! We got to pour our hearts into our community and we are in awe of the kids’ creativity! One of them asked why I like rainbows so much and I answered that rainbows are special and bright and I always feel happy when I see one.
While I didn’t say it, we also have another reason to love rainbows: it symbolizes our story of hope and new beginnings, the beauty following the storm. We struggled for 10 years with infertility and grieved the loss of 4 babies to miscarriage. April can be a hard month as it once held the due dates of our twins and last baby girl. This year, we enter April with open hearts and great hope that our rainbow blessing will come by way of adoption. December 27, 2025A small update with big hope 🤍
For Christmas, the gift that means the most to us isn't something that can be wrapped and put under the tree. We decided to officially join an adoption agency, Adoption and Beyond, in addition to working with our adoption attorney, Megan Monsour, to help us find the momma who is looking for us too. Thank you for every share, prayer, and encouragement—your support means more than we can say. It only takes the one right person seeing our posts to make a connection that will change all of our lives! Blessings to all! -
