We are incredibly grateful to be starting the adoption process!
We have wanted to adopt for several years, but we never really knew what that would look like until now. We decided to try and grow our family several months ago, but because of some hormone imbalances we weren't able to conceive after a handful of cycles. Being a practitioner, I knew that with the right tools I could get my body back in balance, but what did timing look like? We have always wanted Marlo to have a sibling and didn't want to keep waiting, as that timeline can sometimes be long and not linear. God has really been putting it on our hearts to adopt. With my dad and brother being adopted, it was even more of a reason to choose this path. Since choosing adoption, we have felt so much peace. We have faith that God will walk alongside us as we make this journey. We have so much love to give a child and we couldn't feel more blessed to be given this opportunity to grow our family.
We are in the very early stages of the adoption process, which includes multiples stages. The first step is our Home Study, which we're currently gathering all the paperwork for. This is where the state decides if we are worthy of adoption. The Home Study not only makes sure we are fit to adopt, but also ensures we have the necessary tools and education surrounding adoption. Adoption is very complex and multi-faceted, meaning that we need to be aware of all the realities that we might face during this process. The beginning stages are costly and do not guarantee a baby to adopt.
We have decided to work with Christian Adoption Consultants. They able to assist in matching us with multiple agencies at once, which gives us the best chance of adoption for our family. They have already vetted the agencies they work with to ensure ethical practices.
Once our Home Study & Profile Book are complete we will be ready to be matched for adoption. It can take a few months or years to match with an expectant mama. We are hopeful and eager to see God move as we have taken these big steps.
Due to the high costs associated with adoption, we need to raise up a village to help us through this process. The average adoption costs $52,000 (or more) for domestic infant adoption. This doesn't include all the extra fees that aren't included in the actual adoption. It is completely humbling for us to ask for financial help. I know from experience that asking for help also allows for those who are helping to feel the joy alongside us as we make this dream come true. We are asking for support financially/fundraisers, buying a t-shirt, through prayers, sharing our link, extra support for our small businesses and for anyone who might be able to offer knowledge or expertise in this area.
Thank you for reading, praying and sharing!
