Nick and Katie Tatara
are adopting a child from United States of America
Hi there, We’re so glad you’re here! The Tatara family has some HUGE news and there is no one else we’d rather share it with than all of you! WE’RE ADOPTING! For those who don’t know, Charlotte, our biological daughter, is in fact a fertility drug baby…we struggled with infertility but by the grace of God were still blessed with our little girl. So, why adoption if we were successful the first time around? Well, doctoring with infertility is mentally and emotionally draining, and it’s never guaranteed to work. Katie also had a very unpleasant pregnancy. Starting with a ruptured cyst at about 10 weeks that led to bleeding, followed by 35 weeks of sickness, not just nausea but true sickness that resulted in her needing infusions for nutrients. Work had to come to an end for Katie at about 6 1/2 months then she delivered early at 37 weeks. Charlotte was okay but Katie proceeded to have issues with sky rocketing blood pressure post delivery, needing a 24 hour magnesium drip and nothing but water until that was finished. Doctors told Katie that should she get pregnant again, she is at high risk of developing pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia can be very dangerous, especially in “geriatric pregnancies”. That has led us to where we are today. After a lot of thought, we have come to the conclusion that it is not worth the risk to pursue trying for another biological child. There are many ways to grow our family and adoption is the one we feel is just right for us! Now that you know all about us and our story, you’re probably wondering why were here? Well, if I told you that the average cost for a domestic infant adoption in South Carolina is between $30,000 and $60,000, would you believe me? Unfortunately that is a true statement and a rather mind boggling statistic. However, there is truly no price tag you can put on your family so we’re not backing down and we’re not giving up! We have already invested in the application for the home study as well as the consultation with the adoption attorney out of pocket and our home study is approaching with a price tag of $1,800 itself. Beyond that, we plan to fundraise to cover as much of the remaining costs as possible. We surely don’t want to start our journey as a family of 4 with a hefty adoption loan lingering over our heads. This is where you come in. No matter the amount, big or small, just know you’re helping us grow our family. You’re helping Charlotte become a big sister and we appreciate everyone who contributes, whether that be physically or even just a prayer, every little thing helps us reach the ultimate goal…a baby!
