Benjamin & Edith Andreina Taylor

are adopting a child from Colombia

Yesss… We are ADOPTING!!! Adoption is in our hearts and it has always been.

A little bit of background story: We met in Venezuela 16 years ago while Ben was on a mission trip visiting my hometown and church. Ben had been traveling to Latin America since middle school, learning Spanish and mingling with the culture because he had the desire to become a missionary doctor and witness the love of God to Hispanic communities. My dream was to become a missionary and serve children at risk wherever God would have me go. God ignited my heart to work with under-served communities and children at risk while visiting Bogotá Colombia in my first mission trip. For a short period of time I had the privilege to do just that, and for a long time I thought: maybe one day Ben and I will go back to serve Colombian children and their community. We both desired to build a family that lived on mission for God, wherever He would have us to go or stay.

With both dreams in mind and heart, we joined in marriage in 2013 to pursue God’s calling together. Since then by the grace of God and through a long process of studying and training, Ben has become a Family Medicine Physician. Meanwhile I expanded my education training to continue to work with under-served families and communities as a schoolteacher. Now, both of us are sharing God’s love through our skills in Birmingham, AL. In the pursuit of these dreams, we have shed a lot of tears, experienced a lot of victories, and felt many heart aches, but one thing has remained the same for us: to build a family that lives on mission for the Glory of God.

Some people may be wondering what took us so long to finally start our adoption process? The simple answer is: God’s refinement of our marriage and also thinking that having biological children first was going to better prepare us for adoption. After 10 years of praying about adoption and 8 years of praying for biological kids, we now sense God nudging us to set our hearts and minds towards the miracle of adoption. And in these crazy ups and downs we see a little circle closing.

We are adopting a little one from COLOMBIA, 😀🎉 a country so very close to our hearts. We are looking at ages 0-6, and we expect this process to last from 12 - 24 months. This will cost a whopping $50,000 but nothing is impossible for God. We can’t wait to welcome our little one to our family, friends, and community – to you who are reading this. Would you consider praying for us and/or donating to help us reach this financial goal? We are so grateful to have you in our lives.

In His Grace, Ben & Andre Taylor
