We have BIG news!
We are adopting a baby!
We are beyond excited to share this news with you and hope you will partner with us as we prepare to welcome this new little life into our home.
Early on in our relationship Leslie shared with me her heart for adoption, we shared the same sentiments and decided that it was something we definitely wanted to pursue down the line. In the summer of 2022 we were blessed to find out we were pregnant for the first time. We were thrilled and spent the next weeks making plans. But sadly, we lost this baby at only 8 weeks. Grieved, we clung to Gods promises, that “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good” Romans 8:28. We spent the next year praying and hoping for a baby, learning to trust in His divine timing.
In the fall of 2023 we had our second pregnancy, nervous but excited we prayed over our baby and even got to see a heartbeat this time. The Lord, in his sovereign will though, had planned for this baby to pass as well. Each loss brought new waves of grief and devastation, and yet a more firm reliance on the Lord to sustain us. “He is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” Psalm 34:18.
Through this difficult season we grieved our babies and clung to God’s Word, looking forward to the day we meet them in Heaven. The Lord opened our hearts and challenged us to trust in Him, and that desire to adopt was brought back to the table. After a lot of prayer and discussion we decided to take this step in faith.
We know that more than our own story of how we arrived at adoption, is the even greater story of adoption in the Gospel. “In love, God predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ..” Ephesians 1:5. Through Jesus’ death on the cross we are reconciled with God, redeemed and adopted into His family as sons and daughters. We hope our adoption story can mirror this and bring glory to God.
We know you may have questions, so here are some answers that may help!
We are hoping to be matched with a newborn, but are open to an older child if the case fits. We are open to whatever the Lord has for us in regards to gender and race. We are adopting domestically and due to our consistent military moves have opted to use a consultant that takes cases from states across the country.
We started working with our Consultant in late March. Started the Home Study in April and received the finalized Home Study at the end of June. From here on out the timeline is super variable depending on when we match and how far along our expectant mother is. We will be considered an “Active Family” until we are matched.
First, we would ask that you would pray for us as we start this new chapter. Prayers for patience & peace in the waiting, for open hearts as we read cases, & for trust in the Lord’s provision. Pray for the health and salvation of our future expectant mother & father, and for our future child.
If you feel led to support us financially we would also greatly appreciate it. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $60,000 or more these days. That is why we have set this funding goal. If you are able to donate, your gift goes towards agency fee expenses, birth mother needs, lawyers, travel, etc. We hope that by inviting you into this process you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
Another way to support would be to share our post/this page on Facebook or Instagram or directly to your friends & family.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We are so grateful for every prayer, donation, share, & encouraging word. So many of you have already been so encouraging and helpful throughout this process and we cannot thank you enough.
Check back here for updates as we move along in our adoption journey!
Now that we have been active for about a month, we thought it would be a good time for an update.
First, we want to say thank you to each and every one of you who have donated to our fundraiser and have encouraged us along this journey. The outpouring of love has been overwhelming and comforting to know so many of you are in our corner.
So far Kyle & I have only presented to two mothers. Presenting looks like us writing the expectant mother a handwritten letter and our consultant sends that and our profile book ( a book of info about our lives & who we are ) over to the agency. The mother looks at all the presenting families' profiles and selects one. Neither expectant mother we presented to chose us, but we have peace of mind that the families they chose better match what they were specifically looking for. We are grateful for a process that allows both parties to make informed decisions and that the expectant mothers care to save & make a plan for the life they carry.
As we go into our second month as an active family we have been praying for continued discernment and compassion as we receive cases, for the health and wellness of the expectant mothers and the precious gifts that they carry, and for the salvation of the expectant mother, father, & baby.
Again thank you all for partnering with us & being invested in the story that God is writing.
