We are adopting!
As part of the final stages of the adoption process, we have started a fundraising campaign to help alleviate a bit of the financial stress of welcoming our new addition.
It’s estimated the expenses within the first year of adopting an older child or preteen can range from $20,000 to $45,000. This includes adoption fees, legal fees, furniture, all new clothes, shoes, school supplies, toys, equipment for extracurricular activities, and so much more. Adopting through the foster care system allows us to eliminate some of the costs that are associated with private agencies, but it certainly does not make adoption inexpensive.
Our family feels lead to adopt an older child due to the likelihood of being adopted decreasing as a child ages. This also means the cost to initially “set them up” at home will be higher. We want to give our daughter the best possible start and allow her to truly experience being a carefree child.
Any donations made will be used to support our girl through assisting with legal fees, adoption fees, decorating her room to her liking, providing her school supplies, clothing her, and medical expenses. We expect initial medical expenses to ensure she is healthy and establish care with providers. Due to her being older, we also know she will need continued mental health care to help process traumas and adjust to her new home.
We are so grateful for any donation to support our journey. (YOUR DONATION IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE!)
Thank you for your prayers and support. We can’t wait to bring our girl home!
