We have BIG news! We're adopting!!
Family has always been important to us. We knew from the beginning of our relationship that we wanted to be parents. We love children and have dedicated ourselves to being educators, and our love for children and helping children has guided us toward becoming parents. So when we received news that having children would not be possible, we looked towards adoption. And recently, our dreams came true! We matched and are looking forward to bringing home siblings from Taiwan, a spunky 8-year-old boy, and a fun-loving 9-year-old girl.
As we work through the paperwork and prepare to bring them home, we have opened a crowd fundraiser to help with half of the adoption funding in hopes that some might support/partner with us. It may surprise you that international adoptions easily cost USD 50,000+. YIKES!
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as a part of our family journey to help bring our son and daughter home. We appreciate any support, whether it be thoughts and prayers for the health of our children, paperwork getting processed smoothly and for the future of our family, encouragement through words of support through this process that can sometimes be stagnant and lengthy, or through giving, any financial support you can provide during this process as it can be so expensive. This adoption continues to stretch and challenge us in many ways, but we are thankful for any support from family, friends, and community.
With Love, Pre & Wei Hao
After three years of waiting, they're finally here! Hsiao-Ting and Chia-Ho arrived home on December 23rd!
This trip to Taiwan was a short one but full of memories. On our first day together, we took a trip to Taipei 101, where we had dim sum and went to the top to see all of Taipei. It was their first time, and they enjoyed looking through the binoculars to see the city. We also found a replica of the LOVE statue from Philly!
Our first night together was also a success! We stayed near the Zhongli Night Market, and for dinner, we had stinky tofu, a delicacy and favorite for the kids! Not to mention the fried squid that we all enjoyed!
The flight home was long but worth it. The kids did so well on their first flight and going through customs. They were happy to see their new rooms, and we celebrated our first Christmas with matching pajamas. We even baked cookies! Our home and hearts are whole!
Thank you for being a crucial part of this journey. We are excited about the future and what this new year will bring to our family. We wish you all a joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Love,
Pre, Wei-Hao, Hsiao-Ting, & Chia-Ho
Did you know that November 9th is World Adoption Day? Today, as we celebrate the beautiful tapestry of families that are created through adoption and acknowledge the resilience of love, we are overwhelmed to share the news with you that we will finally be welcoming our children home on December 23rd.
We are in awe that 2 1/2 years later, from when we filled out our preliminary paperwork to matching to bonding and (currently) setting up bedrooms, we are finally bringing our children home. And the best part is they'll be home in time for the holidays!!
We are so grateful for the support of our family, friends, and community. Without you, this incredible journey would not have been imaginable. We will share as many photos as possible as soon as we're back from our trip!
We had our court hearing and bonding days with our son and daughter in Taiwan during the first week of August. Although we only spent a few days together, we made many memories. We spent time at the park, swam in the pool, and enjoyed bubble tea. We were also lucky enough to celebrate a birthday. Most importantly, we were able to get to know each other better. Even though the time we spent together was short, it was unforgettable and made all the difference in strengthening our bond as a family.
Our next step is to wait for our court decree within two or three months and, hopefully, a date to pick them up! We hope to have them home before the winter holiday, so please keep your fingers crossed for us!
We have some incredibly exciting news to share—our adoption journey has reached a significant milestone! We have received our bonding and court date and couldn't be more thrilled to announce it to you all!
After almost two years (which sometimes felt like an eternity) of waiting and countless paperwork, we are thrilled to share that our bonding and court date has been set! In the first couple weeks of August, we will meet our children in person for the first time! Although we cannot bring our children home on this trip, this significant step brings us closer to officially welcoming our children home.
We cannot wait to tell you more about our time with our children. We knew it would be an emotional and life-changing experience when we started our adoption process. This journey has had its ups and downs, but we have made it through with your support. Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for us. We are beyond grateful for your friendship, love, and unwavering support.
