Why We Could Use Your Help: Johanna has a condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which makes it very difficult for her to get pregnant. For most of our marriage she has endured numerous doctors visits, special treatments, injections, supplements, acupuncture, and holistic approaches in an effort to become pregnant. Through all of this, we were blessed with our daughter Evelyn in 2012, but have not been able to replicate the miraculous conditions that brought her into our lives. Over the years we have spent tens of thousands of dollars trying to grow our family through fertility treatments. We&'ve always planned on adopting, and in 2016 we began the process by signing with an agency and completing our home study. We were thrilled in August of 2016 to be matched with a birthmother with whom we grew very close to and supported financially up until her delivery. We had our adopted son for two days until the birthmother decided that she couldn&'t go through with finalizing the adoption and she reclaimed her son. We are heartbroken, and unfortunately all of the money that was spent on that process is unrecoverable. Our adoption profile is active again and as soon as we are matched to another birthmother, we will move forward financially supporting her and hopefully finalizing an adoption. Because of our previously failed adoption and the years of fertility treatments that we have paid for, your donation alleviates much of the financial stress that we are feeling at this time, helps us know that we are not alone in our efforts to complete our family, and helps us to move forward with our next birthmother match despite anxiety of previous failures.
