The world-wide orphan crisis has weighed heavily on our hearts for a while, and as we started to contemplate adding another child to our family, the question wasn't so much "Why adopt?" … it was "Why not?" Here we are, a family with room in our hearts and home for another child, and there are millions of children without the most basic care and love … and we knew we could make a difference for at least one of them. Last spring, we started our adoption journey with a trusted and well respected Christian adoption agency. In early December, our paperwork was approved and sent to Ethiopia. We were happily anticipating receiving a match for a child in early summer of this year … when out of the clear blue, in early February, our trusted adoption agency filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy, seizing services immediately. We lost almost all of our money that day. Now we are stepping out in faith, trusting God to help us do it … again! As we were determining a way forward, we were also finally bold enough to make a decision that had been on our hearts for while: Accepting a child with a serious health condition.
