Our 7 month old grandson was abused almost to death. He was given a 1% chance to live. Thanks be to God, he lived!! Our grandson, Bryce has endured 4 brain surgeries. The abused caused (TMI)Traumatic Brain Injury and brain bleeds-leading to a massive stroke. The stroke completely destroyed his left brain and a shunt placement became necessary. Bryce has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and has significant delays. Bryce also suffered eye hemorrhaging and has marked visual deficits. Within days of being hospitalized, the CYS took custody of Bryce. We were informed that we would not be allowed any contact with our grandson as he would be placed in Foster Care. Our hearts were shattered. We obtained an attorney and began to fight. After a long 1 1/2 years the judge finally granted us a 3 day trial. We won that trial and were awarded guardianship of Bryce! Unfortunately, the CYS left the Parental rights intact. As we lived in another State, the parents took the opportunity to pursue custody of Bryce. The next 2 years we again fought to keep Bryce safe from his abusers. In April we had the Parental rights removed and adopted our precious grandson. He is now safe forever! It has been almost 4 years and Bryce continues to work hard and improve. He has exceeded the medical expectations and continues to move forward in every way. I quit my job to care for Bryce as he needs full time attention. To date we have spent close to $40,000. to keep Bryce safe. The battle is over, but the bills continue to come in. As we only have one steady income, we are pressed to make ends meet. The remaining debt is overwhelming. Thank you for reading our story and helping
