Hi! Update: I am SO grateful for every. single. dollar that is being donated to #BringBabyZekeHome I am humbled and thankful! No amount is too small! I wish I could thank every person and give you each a BIG hug! I only receive the info posted. If you have donated anonymously or just using a first name, THANK YOU! I expect to travel to China in February 2017! I&'m Rebecca and I&'m a single mom in the process of adopting a sweet little special needs boy from China. He has albinism and in his birth country, unfortunately he is considered to be cursed. I&'m mom to six kids, some of which are bio and others were adopted, but I can never seem to remember which ones were adopted ;). My kids are 19, 15, 12, 10, 6, and 5. My oldest has joined the armed forces and was recently married! So, I&'ve gained a precious daughter in law. (Nope…not going to be a grandma)…they&'re just VERY much in love. Some people think I wear a cape in my free time however, I feel extremely blessed to have been chosen to be mom to these treasures I call my children. I&'m a firm believer that God does not only call the equipped to adoption, He equips the called. I have a career that is flexible and allows me to spend a lot of time at home and with my children. In my free time, I have a passion for helping others learn how to budget and live debt free. I&'m active in my church in facilitating life groups to help people with their finances. I also run a support group for parents who have adopted children with Thalassemia, a chronic condition that I have learned so much about since adopting children with that special need. In addition to that I founded and run a FB group for adoptive families selling goods to raise funds for their adoptions. Fundraising is HARD work! It&'s difficult to ask for help, but the truth is that adoption is expensive. Single parents have an even more challenging financial hurdle. Many times there is a bias against single parents and there are fewer resources and grants available to single parents. However, it has not deterred me from following the call that God has placed on my life to bring orphans into a loving family. I&'ve budgeted, sacrificed, sold things, and applied for grants. I&'ve received final approvals for the adoption of my precious little guy, but I&'m still short on funds to complete the adoption and for travel expenses.
