We are the Magills and we have had a whirlwind of a year! In January of 2017 we were thrilled to be matched with an expectant mother due in August 2017. Over the next several months we were able to build a relationship with her and get to know more about our daughters family of origin. In August we welcomed our perfect daughter Lydia into our family and have loved every moment watching her grow. After our action packed 2017 we were planning on a quiet 2018 just becoming a family of 3, but God had other plans. On the Friday before Christmas we were honored to be asked by Lydia's birth mother if we would adopt again, she was expecting (She is due in July 2018)! Of course the answer was an enthusiastic YES! Who could say no to biological siblings? We’re having another baby!!! And on Valentines day we found out Lydia would be having a little sister.
As much as this is a fun and exciting time getting ready for baby number 2 there are a lot of challenges that come with adopting twice in under a year. The biggest challenge is financial, adoption is an expensive process but it is worth every penny. This adoption will cost around $45,000. In addition to the large legal fees we will assist with birth mother expenses (including working with a counselor) during the pregnancy, travel costs (we will be in Florida 2-3 weeks following the birth waiting for paperwork to clear), home study fees and social worker visits.
