is adopting a child from United States of America

We have BIG news!

We are adopting a child!

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of 40,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.

Here is a little bit about why we are adopting, we could go on and on with the questions people want answered but here is the short answer from Sabrina.

Adoption gave me life.

My Grandfather was adopted by an amazing family when he was just a toddler. If his birth mother, had not chosen to give him a better life, I may have never made it to this world.

My Grandfather was a private man and never really spoke too much about being adopted. But I was fascinated by the idea of not knowing where we truly came from. I wanted to know it all, geographic and the people. After years of getting the courage to ask him if I could search, to my surprise he met me with a YES!

Since we are in the day and age of DNA testing, I turned to a testing website first. I knew just a little information about his adoption and had spent hours combing through old documents and online adoption registries. While I waited for the testing to come back, I started researching my paternal lineage and was able to trace my family back pretty far. This only fueled my desire to know more!

I knew that my Grandfathers potential birth name and was armed with very little more. I finally got the email that my results were in and I logged in within seconds. You know the feeling you get when you are so excited, your heart races, your vision blurs a bit, you feel flush, I was there. I am pretty sure if I could have jumped up and down I would. Then I saw it, the 4th result on my list, last name Campbell. This was it. I found them.

Cutting to the end of this story for fear of losing your interest, after several emails, direct messages, photographs, and chats, I found it all. My grandfather’s full brother, who is basically a carbon copy of my grandfather was alive and in color. I found out so much info. His brothers, sisters, mother, father, so much to take in. So much excitement.

I am sure you are wondering how this leads me to adopt.

Here it is:

LOVE, Love doesn’t know that it is adopted. Love lead me to find the most amazing people in my life. Love is kind and warm, love is kissing boo boos and perfecting pig tails. Love is knowing likes and dislikes. I am pretty sure when our future children look up at us and smile, they won’t think this is what adopted or biological love feels like. And if and when the time comes, that our adopted children want to search for their biological family, I am here and ready. I have the tools and the experience. Because who can be more loved then someone who Has 2 sets of parents, that love them enough to lead them to one another for more people to love them.
