is adopting a child from China

We are very excited to share with all of you!

We have been praying over the last year, about the possibility of adding one more child to our family. We made our decision in December, to begin the process with America World in China. We are preparing for a two year wait to bring our child home.

As I write this we are just at the beginning stages of homestudy, and have a big pack of paperwork and training ahead of us. We are excited and honestly a bit unsure of what this all will look like, but are following God's call on our heart to do this.

A little bit about us:

Nick and I met in highschool at youth group and were married 6 years later when he finished college. We planned to start a family shortly after that, but found out over the course of several years and dr visits that achieving pregnancy on our own would not be an option at that time. We pursued domestic infant adoption, twice, and were given our first two children through the gift of some amazing birth parents with big hearts for their babies.

After our second adoption, we talked about other adoption options to continue to expand our family. We were on limited funds at that point, and found out at the time, Nick's insurance had changed and would cover medical costs that would allow us to try again with treatment. When our oldest two were 4 & 2, we welcomed our twin girls into the world, making us a family with four children under five. We were very busy and exhausted and grateful and blessed.

We made the decision with our remaining baby embryos to give those to a couple who could not have children on their own, and they now have three awesome boys with a little girl on the way. It has been amazing to be on that side of adoption, and I am so grateful how God has written our story that way.

When the twins were 2, I saw a picture of this beautiful baby girl that had a cleft palette, and my heart was turned towards the idea of adopting from China at that time. I mentioned it to Nick, but it was not a good time for our family to think about taking that on. So I prayed about it, tucked the dream back on the shelf, and wondered if God would ever bring it back out for us to fulfill.

About a year ago, we started to dream and pray and talk about one more child. Five had always been my number in my head. Probably connecting to my Grammy who had five incredible children. We have several friends that have adopted from China over the last few years, and in December of 2018, God brought the dream of adopting a child from China to my husband as well.

More than anything, we would really appreciate your prayer for our family. There will be much upfront prep work and then a season of waiting. So much training and heart preparation for our family, as we want to be as equipped as possible to help our next child work through any physical, emotional, and spiritual struggles they will be bringing with them in their history. We don't know how this journey will go. We've watched friends walk through adoptions that have taken longer than expected, seen them have to switch countries, redo paperwork. We say it can be a two year expected timeline but that can also change at anytime. We can't do this without prayer support. W** e need you on this journey with us.**

Also, we are reaching out for financial support. It is a very costly endeavor, one that we are prepared to pay. But there is something special about inviting you all along with us on our journey, to take part in bringing a child home. If along the way over the next few years, God puts it on your heart to financially support us in any way, we would be very humbled and blessed to receive the gift.

Financial Gifts are tax deductible through Adopt Together. Feel free to check out the FAQ page on this website for more information and answers to any questions you may have.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We are so very grateful!

Much Love in Christ,

Nick, Kari, Josiah, Ava, Lena & Mallory Adams
