To whom it may concern,
My name is Tonya Webb. I am currently working with Bethany Christian Adoption Agency with hopes to adopt two girls, aged 5 and 6. The girls are biological sisters and stay in separate homes due to the behaviors of one of the girls. We are prepared for the challenges that we may face moving forward and welcome the girls into our home. I am open with my children and have included them in the decision to adopt.
I previously adopted two young ladies currently aged 9 and 16. I adopted them separately when they were 2 and 5 when they entered my home. They were not related and the adoptions took place years apart. I have taken several classes (child psychology, dealing with loss and grief, ect.) to help me understand some of what to expect during various stages of grief, trauma and separation. I then explained to my children some of the behaviors they may exhibit and diverse ways we can deal with them. I used this poem to explain adoption to my children
Legacy of an Adopted Child
Once there were two women ๐ญ who never knew each other ๐
One you do not remember โthe other you call mother ๐
Two different lives๐๐, shaped to make you one ๐
One became your guiding star โญthe other became your sun๐
The first one gave you life๐ and the second one taught you to live it๐ค
The first one gave you a need for love ๐ the second one was there to give it๐
One gave you a nationality ๐ด the other gave you a name ๐ง
One gave you a talent ๐๐ถ the other gave you aim
One gave you emotions ๐ the other calmed your fears๐
One saw your first sweet smile ๐ the other dried your tears๐ง
One sought for you a home that she could not provide ๐ก
The other prayed for a child ๐ and her hope was not denied๐
And now you ask me ๐through your tears ๐งthe age-old question โ
Unanswered through the years ๐ โ
Heredity or environment ๐ฒwhich are you a๐ product of โ
Neither my darling, Neither. Just two different kinds of love ๐ช.
This adoption would mean so much to us.
