We are beyond thrilled to begin the journey of bringing home Baby Davis. We have been praying for this baby for many many days and years. The Lord has been at work in our hearts over the past few years as we have prayed unceasingly for this baby, for what our growing family will look like, and how we can be the hands and feet of Christ. While we have been waiting, the Lord has prepared our hearts for this adoption journey, helping us better understand ourselves as adopted by the King, and our call to care for the orphan. We cannot wait to see how the Lord will work in and through this process. Our prayers is that, not only will he place the perfect baby into our home, but that we would get to be Jesus to the birth family, adoption workers, case workers, and our friends and family.
As part of our adoption process, we have prayed through inviting others into our journey, to become a part of our story. We want to be completely transparent regarding all the details of our adoption, because we do not want to limit the work the Lord can (and will do). We are in need of a community to come alongside us as we venture into this journey.
One of our biggest needs will be financially. Jesus paid the ultimate, greatest price for our adoption into His kingdom, and just like His sacrifice for us, adoption will be a huge sacrifice on our part. The price of adoption is steep, but it is nothing compared to what has been paid on our behalf by our Heavenly Father. Our fundraising goal is $40,000. This amount covers quality care and counseling for the birth mother. As well as the delivery, hospital care, and legal fees. There are other items that are not included in this price such as a client fee with our adoption agency, home study and travel expenses. They have asked that we be prepared to spend anywhere from 7-14 days out of state while we wait for the finalization and clearance to travel home with baby. We know that all of these things are well worth it, and we are excited to see how the Lord will provide.
We also are asking for HUGE prayer support. Adoption lends its self to days and months of paperwork and waiting. We know that while we wait, the devil will be on attack. We are asking for prayers for patience and peace. Prayers for provision. Prayers that the Lord will protect us as we are presented cases, and guide us to the child He has in store for us. Prayers that the Lord will wrap the birth mom in His arms, and help her to feel His presence and protection. Prayers that she will feel encouraged in her selfless act of love. Prayers for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Prayers that it will not be our will and our plan, but His.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. We are praying for others to come along side us so we do not have to walk this journey alone. We need community to celebrate this baby and birth mama. We are so excited for all that the Lord is getting ready to do!!!
