In April 2011 I became Millie's god mother and 2 years later became her legal guardian and mom. Millie just had her 11th birthday and we have taken on the world of Haiti together but have not been able to travel together because her adoption has been sitting in process for 8 years. We have ran into the hardest obstacles, have overcome them step by step but not without many tears and frustrations. Haiti has become incredibly dangerous and leaving her to go to the USA is devastating to us both each time.
BUT WE ARE ALMOST DONE!
Millie and I have been waiting a long time to be considered a LEGAL family on paper, be able to travel to the USA and be done with paperwork that keeps us apart. We have just a few more steps but with the end in sight we have a bill with our amazing lawyer and the last costs for her birth certificate, passport and visa to be concerned with.
We need your help.. I know that I have an amazing support network of people who love me and Millie so I am humbly asking for your help. Every dollar helps and gets us closer to the next season of our lives, being a "real" family. Please consider giving but PLEASE pray without ceasing because these hurdles have been MANY and we are so ready!
Thank you so much!
Thank you all so much for standing by our sides, praying and helping me get Millie home!!! 9 years later and she is loving the cold, new family and of course all the Christmas everything!!! She has baked tons of cookies so far. We are forever grateful for your help and love!!
Hello friends, here I am with another update with no real update. All I know is that my senators office has been asking USCIS, (the government citizenship department) to expedite our file and they replied with, “It takes five months, so keep waiting.”
This Friday, the 18th is five months!
This week I am fasting and praying. I have several friends joining me.
I’ve been bombarding heaven for answers and Millie‘s freedom but I’m really praying that this is the last week we have to wait. Would you please join us in prayer. I would love to have Millie start school with the rest of her peers and just get started on the new season of our lives!!
ITS A GIRL! Millie is now a Rider and we are legally a family!
The adoption is complete but we are now waiting (I should be good at this) for Humanitarian Parole to be approved so Millie can travel to the USA. Some people already in the system were approved in as little as 5 hours but now with so many people applying the wait time is longer and we are 3 weeks in. I need your prayers to bombard Heaven for it to be released and this email to get to me NOW. Please pray.
The plan now is to drive with my mom to Florida, fly over to Pap and bring my girl home (Millie will either take a puddle jumper plane OR an armored vehicle with police escort to the capital). I will meet her near the airport, sleep over and fly HOME the next day.
We will go straight to Naples so Millie can hug her bff Annasofia from when she was 4. We will take a couple days to drive home and see some of the USA before getting Millie into school.
I still have one more form to fill out to make her a citizen... can you believe I wont have to fill out any more paperwork proving we are family ever again?? I cant wait!!!
These things are going to allow you a chance to help where we need it most.
FIRST... pray this email gets here and we can get out of Haiti QUICKLY in Jesus name.
The travel expenses and paper work are a financial burden that I could use help on.
Traveling to get her out $1,400
Citizen paperwork is $1,200 (which I plan to submit this week to get it started).
If you feel led to help please contact me or give straight to this non profit website at adopttogeher!
thank you so much for standing with us and supporting us for the 8 years we’ve been on the adoption journey!
LOVES
Today begins the 6th week since re-submitting all Millie's paper work with no word. Our lawyer has been called down to IBESR (the children's services office) 2 weeks ago but because of gang activity in the streets she has not been able to get there. Its a 10 minute drive. PLEASE PRAY that the signatures we're waiting on are on the paper and it gets sent to the judge ASAP! We are crying out to the Lord, waiting and making the best of our time in Haiti as we worship the ONE in control.
Thank you!
Thank you for your prayers. Last week on Wednesday June 15, we resubmitted the paper work that the adoption welfare office requested back in March. We had to battle type-o's, lost sheets and even the last paper was in a court house that a gang went in and ransacked so it set us back 4 more days. BUT we got it done and they didn't ask for anything new or ask for anything corrected. The director said "ok, now we can go fast!!" So we are back in forward motion! PLEASE CONTINUE TO BOMBARD HEAVEN for our adoption to be completed!
