After over 3 years of waiting, we are in the last month of adopting our nearly 3 year-old son from South Korea. We travel on Sep 19! Even though we&'ve never met him, he holds a very special place in each of our hearts, and we can&'t wait for him to hold a very special place in our arms. Recently, an amendment to the Special Adoption Law in Korea requires that both parents travel twice over the course of 6 weeks or stay in country for the duration of the court process. This is a new requirement and very different than the 4-7 days we have been anticipating since we started our adoption in January 2010. The cost of travel will be around $12,000 in addition to our agency&'s fees and country fees. What a blessing though, we have already started to receive some help from friends and family.
