Hello, we are Wade and Martin and we are excited to share with you our journey to and through international adoption!

We met in 2018 - we soon started talking about our goals and aspirations in life. One thing remained unclear - how many dogs we would have (the current answer being two), however, one thing was very clear, we both wanted kids.

As we drew nearer to starting our adoption journey, we had an idea for a way to ensure our compatibility to parent together while drawing from our shared passion for new cultures – volunteering to host an exchange student. In 2021, we welcomed our first exchange student, Pablo from Spain, into our home. We became extremely close with Pablo and remain very close to this day. Since Pablo, we have welcomed 4 additional exchange students into our home: Anselm from Germany, Erik from Spain, and our current students Viktor from Denmark and Nicola from Italy. We have truly loved hosting our 5 students, have learned so much from them, and love them like our own children. And while we hope to host in the future, we are ready to become more than host dads.

While life has not always been easy for either of us, we know that we are truly blessed to be where we are now, and that the adversity we have experienced pales in comparison to the struggles so many kids around this world experience. We are convinced that all our life experiences, both the good and the bad, have led us to this moment. While we are far from rich, we both have kind and loving hearts, ready to welcome a child or children in need of a loving family into our family.

One unfortunate reality of adoption is that it is not cheap – we expect our total adoption cost for two children to be more than $42,000! Moreover, there are over 130,000 children living in Brazilian orphanages.
