We are Nate and Kelly Waggoner and we are in the process of adopting from the Philippines.
We have two little girls, Bethany and Magnolia. Being parents is our greatest joy and we are so blessed to have two healthy biological children! We are also aware there are millions of orphans world wide, all of them deserving of loving families. Before we were even married, we knew we wanted to share our family with one (or more) of these special children, and know they will be a blessing to our family just as we hope to be a blessing to them.
From 2010-2012 Nate served a religious service mission in the Philippines for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He fell in the love with the people and the culture. Both Nate and I have always had a heart for people with special needs and before I had Bethany, I taught both elementary and high school special education, working with adults with intellectual disabilities between school years. Our hope is to adopt a child with Down Syndrome but due to the privacy rules of the Philippines, we won't be able to share the personal information of the child we are adopting until we bring them home.
The financial cost of adoption can be daunting. To adopt from the Philippines will cost us around $30,000. We have already paid about a third of this out of pocket, with the majority of the remainder being due in December. While the financial burden is high, we know that the worth of a child is more than any amount of money.
We have created this page so that those who have expressed their desire to help by making a donation can do so directly to our adoption agency. Our agency is a 501c3 non profit making all donations tax deductible. It is humbling to be the recipients of this kind of generosity and we are deeply grateful.
