We are adopting our Nephews!!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. We have set a goal of $2,000.00 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
My name is Danielle, 28 years old. I have had Temporary Custody of Jacob,6 and Christopher,9 my Nephews for two years since August 2017. Jacob and Christopher first arrived in Florida December 18,2014 with just the clothes on their back from my Parents receiving a call from DFAC of Georgia. Our Family was told we had 24-hours to pick the Boys up or they would be placed in a home through the State. My Parents had Jacob and Christopher for 8 months and unfortunate health reasons, they were unable to support them any longer. Fast forward to August 23, 2015 the day before Kindergarten and 2nd Grade they moved in with me and my Boyfriend. Never having Children, this was a complete upside down miracle we have endured. Becoming "Parents" was the best thing that has ever happened to me. These Boys teach me new things about life every single day, they have become part of our Family and I hope we can stay as that. I received "Temporary Custody" October 28, 2015 through the Florida Courts with no expiration date. DCF of Florida closed mine and the Boys case in December 2015. We are receiving "Temporary Cash Assistance" that covers just enough for our Water and Electric. I was told from DCF of Florida our case is "rare" and the Boys do not qualify for anything besides Medicaid and a short dollar of Food Stamps. I am not one to ask for help, but because we don't have an open case with DCF we wouldn't have the opportunity to help get assistance with the Adoption process. I work full time and make sure both Boys get all the necessities to make their lives brighter. Since having Custody of both, they have been diagnosed with Chronic PTSD, Jacob also with ADHD and Christopher with High-Functioning Autism. With those unfortunate Diagnosis I can rest-assure it can tell you what they have gone through in their early Childhood before they came to the Sunshine State of Florida. I will fight my last breath for these Boys and to also make sure they don't ever end up in the wrong hands again.We are set for Trial next Month in July and are having to also pay out-of-pocket for our Home Study.
