We have decided to adopt!!
A little bit about our story. Pierce and I met in high school and have been married now for over six years. As many couples do when dating, we talked about what each of us desired in a family. We happily found out that we both wanted a mixture of biological and adopted children. Part of our desire to adopt came from the fact that Pierce was adopted himself. We always hoped that one day we could give a child a loving home just as his parents had done for him.
About two years ago we felt ready to begin our family. It didn’t take me long to realize that there was something wrong. After going to the doctor and ending up at a fertility clinic, I was diagnosed with PCOS and given an optimistic prognosis. After a year of medication followed by three failed IUI’s, we ended up in a meeting with our doctor. We were told that on paper, the treatments should have worked and we should be pregnant. Unfortunately, there was likely something unknown that was preventing us from conceiving. Though we were heartbroken, we knew what God was calling us to do. In that moment, we knew He had given us the passion to adopt for a reason. While we may have initially had different ideas on when, that time is now. We are very excited to begin our adventure to find our baby and are also excited to share that adventure with all of you!!
