In August 2015, Michael and I moved to Houston from Dublin, Ireland, with the goal of adopting a baby or child and starting our family. We left the home we had created over seven years and started anew in Houston. In early October 2015, just over a month after arriving in Houston, we got a call from our agency to say that there was a newborn baby girl in the NICU and that she needed a family. We met her that evening and took her home just a few days later. Maya is developing perfectly normally, despite a rough entry into the world. At two months, she is smiling, cooing, and has chunked up nicely. We often call her our Miracle Maya. Against a lot of odds, she is just perfect and it's hard to believe we ever had a life without her in it. We were so grateful to have incredible generosity through AdoptTogether to raise enough money to complete Maya's adoption in June 2016. And now we are hoping to adopt again! The fees will be roughly the same, $15,000 from start to finish. Thank you for your generosity in helping us welcome another beautiful baby into our family!
