We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
We're Jeremy and Corey, a Maryland couple who (along with our dogs Max, Pebbles and, Sammy) are looking to expand our family through adoption in 2022.
As two men, we can't go the "traditional" route, so consider this our "We're Pregnant!" post to friends and family - we're starting our journey to parenthood, and could not be more excited about it!
However, adoption is a costly (and sometimes risky) process…especially for same-sex parents. To put it frankly, adoption costs average around $40-60K these days. While there are some credits available that could potentially help us financially, there is still a large amount upfront needed to cover the various fees for adoption agencies, birth mother care (for newborn adoptions), etc.
So we're turning to our friends, family and community for a little support here. We are both government workers, Jeremy is a career military officer starting out in 2007, Jeremy enlisted in the United States Navy after years of studying and attending college on his evening hours he obtained his Masters degree from Pennsylvania State University and commissioned in the United States Coast Guard where he serves currently. Corey has always been the handyman whether its building racecars or doing odd jobs Corey enjoys to help anyone in need. Corey has served as a civil servant in the U.S. government for several years now ensuring the protection of our nation and leaders. We know any child that we are blessed to have in our life will be so very loved and supported, it's just getting them here that may be a bit of a hassle!
We have been married almost 2 years and been together almost 4 years we are starting our saving fund for a child in 2022. We hope you'll be able to help us get a kickstart in this effort.
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $20,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he grows up.
Thank you for your support
Love Jay and Corey
