We are Whitney and Chad, and we are excited to begin our adoption journey. We live in Ketchikan with our two sweet dogs, Rusko and Tana. We always envisioned starting a family and our hearts are full with the anticipation that dream could be realized through this program.
Whitney was born and raised in Alaska, and has spent the majority of her life in coastal Southeast Alaska. She has deep roots in Ketchikan and is an active member of the community. As a fisheries biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Whitney is fortunate to spend her professional life managing Alaska’s natural resources. She looks forward to getting to share her love and knowledge of the ocean with a child. Whitney enjoys giving back to her community through active involvement with the youth soccer league where she is the director of the indoor soccer program.
Chad is from Arkansas and has always had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. As an avid hunter, trapper, and sport fisherman, Chad spends a significant amount of time exploring Alaska’s wilderness. He is a member of the Ketchikan Fish and Game Advisory Committee and the Alaska Trapper Association. Chad lives off the land, and prefers to feed his family with food harvested from Alaska’s pantry. This includes putting halibut, salmon, and venison in the freezer and jarred salmon on the shelf. Since building our house Chad has also become a gardener and nurtures the plants in our yard.
Ketchikan is our chosen home, and the hometown of Whitney’s parents, sister, grandmothers, and extended family. Whitney’s family built a cabin during her childhood and the family spends many weekends out there in the summer. With a rope swing and a pristine beach, it is a wonderful place for a child to get to learn to appreciate the best parts of Alaska.
