We are adopting a child!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of [insert amount] to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
I am happy to have you guys in my life! You really have made my life more full and complete. Some of you may not have the same views as me and that’s okay, but I wanted to share my thoughts with you.
The desire to have a child has never been far from my mind since we first decided to try for a baby in August of 2018.
The weight of waiting has been heavy to bear, often making it difficult to feel God’s love and attend church. Last year, I worked hard to get my temple recommend back and was able to go to the temple after such a long time. When I was there, I could feel the assurance that I was going to be a mother and not delay. A feeling both comforting and driving.
I have watched Hunter for five years now. The way he plays with nieces and nephews, the care and compassion he gives towards our animals. And now, how he helps the students at our charter school with everything he has. Hunter will be an understanding and engaged father. He will be funny and loving and enforce clear values. The thought that we may not have children in this life seems too impossible. Too impossible when Hunter’s gifts and talents align so well with being a daddy.
I am a Special Education teacher and am learning a lot of different ways to work with children of various abilities. This will help me in my ability to parent children from varying backgrounds. Everything I have done, from my Marriage and Family Degree to my pursuing my teaching license is so I can be a successful mother. I am increasing my ability to provide for and help my child.
We have chosen to pursue adoption instead of fertility treatments, due to our personal health histories. We both feel like international adoption is the right decision for us. We humbly ask for your help bringing our child home.
We have selected the All God’s Children Agency because we align with their Christian values. We are excited for the opportunity to have the experience of being sealed in the temple with our child and being an eternal family. Our child will be between the ages of 0-5, most likely in the 2-4 range. We want to be able to experience as many developmental stages in our child’s life as we can and would like to bring them home in 2024.
In order to be considered for the program, we will need to pass a home study and pay a program fee. The upfront costs are around 7,000 dollars. We will need to replace several of our windows and do a few home improvement projects to pass our home study as well.
The home study process typically takes around 6 months to complete and includes a few classes on helping children with trauma which we will take through a Christian University
Upon completion of our home study program, our profile will be eligible to be sent to the country of our choice to wait to be matched. At this time we will be able to apply for grants and loans to help bring our child home.
Once we get into the program we will be matched in 6 months- two years. We are looking into several different countries around the world and looking forward to being matched with our child, or selecting a waiting child from the agency.
