is adopting a child from China

We have BIG news!

We are adopting a child!

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $33,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.

Here is a look into our lives and our journey.

We have both loved kids ever since we were teens and we have been involved in reaching out to less fortunate kids ever since. We were both involved in kids clubs and outreach ministries to kids before we ever met.

I (Missy) moved to Thailand in 2007 to foster three beautiful Thai boys until they joined their forever families in Canada and New Zealand. After pouring my life and love into these precious boy’s lives, I was overflowing with joy and pain as I watched each of the boys disappear around the bend with their forever families. Even though loving these boys came with the price of giving them up to forever families, I chose to move to the huge traffic-jammed city of Ho Chi Minh to care for hurting children in that city.

I (Doug) moved to Thailand in 2011 to work with needy Thai children. I was involved in hosting camps in rural villages for hundreds of children. I moved to a children’s home to help love and care for forty children all of whom come from difficult and at risk situations. Sleeping in a room with fifteen boys was not easy, but sharing love and security with them made it worth the sacrifice!

Missy and I were happily married in the beautiful outdoors of Ohio in 2014. We moved back to the children’s home where Doug had been working. We continue to pour into the lives of these precious kids. We were delighted to welcome our fiery son, Keegan into the world in October of 2015.

We both dreamed of adoption even before we were married. In 2016 we felt like God was leading us to pursue adopting a child from Thailand. After two years of blood and waiting, sweat and waiting, and tears and waiting we were heart-broken when we got the news that we would not be able to adopt from Thailand after all because we are still “too young”.

After a lot of tears and prayers God led us to pursue adopting from India. We are very excited to once again be pursuing adoption. Would you consider joining us in this wild adventure called ‘adoption’? We are raising $33,000 to bring our precious son (who we have never met yet) home. Would YOU please join us in this exciting adventure? Make a donation today to bring us and our son one step closer together.
