Big news for the Hanje Fam! We're adopting!
The Lord has been so exceedingly good to us and we're excited to steward that goodness by becoming a forever family for a child who doesn't have one. We're so thankful for the incredible community the Lord has blessed us with and we can't wait for you all to be a special part of our future child's life!
OUR ADOPTION STORY: From the moment we were married, we talked about the potential for adoption. We have been Christians from a young age, and stewarding our lives and marriage to “father the fatherless” had always been a desire.
Once we started having our own children, the Lord showed us the immense privilege and blessing that parenthood is. We are overjoyed at the fact that we get to raise our “tiny disciples” to know and love Christ and to steward their own lives to make Him known. Our family life and rhythms have always been centered on him, always joyful, and always full of immense privilege. So, in that sense, adoption was a natural step for us.
Seemingly “randomly” (we attribute this to the Lord!), a Facebook advertisement appeared on Zach's Facebook page for an “Urgent Need” to consider adoption with Lifeline Children’s Services. He hadn’t Googled adoption any time recently, so the ad wasn’t tailored to his search preference. It was simply the Lord bringing the topic up!
We clicked through and read about Lifeline’s international adoption program, and we very quickly became interested.
As we began to pray and consider the prospect of international adoption, we were reminded of how good the Lord has been to us, how much we enjoy raising children, and the season and moment our family is in. It became clear to us that adoption was the next right step to take as a family.
As we began our pre-application, we learned that India is part of Lifeline’s adoption program. Several years ago, Kiley had the opportunity to travel to India for a summer-long mission trip, serving women and at-risk girls. This was one of the key factors that helped us decide to apply for the India-specific program through Lifeline adoption. We praise the Lord that this is, in some sense, a full circle for Kiley and for us! We can’t wait to complete our adoption process and add to our family!
