We are adopting a child! …like a real, human BABY! …and it's all happening MUCH sooner than expected.
We have shared with many of you that we have been planning on adopting for about the last year. We've finished the paperwork, and were on about a two year waitlist.
And then one night we got a very unexpected call from our case manager. She told us about a birth mother in the mid-west looking for a family that matched ours to the T. If we wanted, we could write her a letter.
So we did. In fact, we wrote a long letter, with a lot of photos (of course). We told her about us, about how we've been together for sixteen years, how we want to grow our little family, and why we thought we would be the perfect fit. And then waited (very nervously) to hear back.

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. We were anticipating to bring home a toddler, but we will actually be bringing home a newborn! …and we have no baby things yet. We were expecting to have two years to save and prep, but we have FIVE(ish) WEEKS!
So we're asking for a little help. We have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $30,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
By inviting you into this process, we hope that you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as HE grows up. We plan on keeping a video diary and will keep you all updated throughout the process. We have always planned to be very open about adoption and look forward to sharing what an amazing community we've acquired along the way.
