Jacob & Daisy Burgan
are adopting 3 children from United States of America
We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $25,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. By partnering with Adopt Together, your donation is tax deductable.
We are also seeking grants and will have other fundraisers through this process. We are excited to be partnering with Christian Family Services of the Midwest and are in the paperwork phase of the process.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
Every Blessing,
Jacob and Daisy Burgan

Prayer Update
June 9, 2022Hey Friends,
This week has been full of joy and happy tears. In May in the midst of the two private adoption situations I received a text from a dear friend who is a CASA advocate for a child in foster care who needs a forever home. As we learned more about this child and the situation we knew that we are supposed to be involved.
Due to the nature of the situation there is not much we cannot share publicly. What I can say is that we are spending the summer building relarionship with this child, and receiving extra training to ensure that we can be the best parents possible. I will say that these trainings are ones that either Jake or I have gone through in the past, but are repackaged a bit. We are submitting to the process, even though it feels like more red tape.
1. Pray that this child has stable placement through the summer and is not moved from the current home. Pray for heart healing.
2. One big answer to prayer happened last week, after an almost 5 year battle, parental rights have been terminated, making adoption possible.
3. Pray for grace for us in the process. This kiddo is older, but just feels like this child was made for our family.
Thank you for believing in us and supporting us throughout this rollercoaster ride. -
Update 2
Adoption Update June 2, 2022
June 2, 2022Hey Ya’ll,
When it rains it pours. The dry spell broke in February with the birth mom that we were connected with. Though that situation did not turn out the way we thought it would it was hopeful to have movement after so long. This then opened our heart to a second situation and now a third that we once again have to keep close because thats how this works.
There are some prayer warriors who joined our cause in October 2021 who have been like spiritual special forces, alongside the intercessors who assembled in August of 2020. Add that to the fellowship that God has placed us in and there is a company of people who are our village.
Through it all a few things have been made clear:
1. We are not alone, and we do not have to do this alone
2. Our lives do not belong to us and God has a plan for the children that he is placing in our family
3. Nothing looks like we thought it would in the beginning
Who knows if the struggle of the last three years was our gestation period to be equipped for these precious ones?
“All along, let us remember,
we are not asked to understand,
but simply to obey…
‘And only Heaven is better
than to walk with Christ at midnight,
over moonless seas–‘
I couldn’t feel frightened then.
Praise Him for the moonless seas–
all the better the opportunity
for proving Him to be indeed the El Shaddai,
‘the God who is Enough.’”

Update 1
Adoption Update May 23, 2022
June 2, 2022It was wonderful to see many of you at The Flood, and The Send. The two weeks leading up to it were quite eventful for us. Here is the update:
We were given an ultimatum by text at 9pm on Mother's Day to make a decision about the infant boy that we were matched with. Originally it was a private match, but the birthmom went with an agency. They lowered the amount from $53,000 to $35,000. Neither Jake nor I were comfortable with this, as we would be forced to come up with $20,000 in one to two weeks, which would not give time to apply for and receive grants. To our pain, we said no. Due to the nature of how this organization is operating we will be reporting them to the state because unethical practices were uncovered during our engagement with them. Please pray for this little boy and that he finds that home that God has intended for him.
I just got off the phone with the social worker at the Florida agency over the Little one, Roman, 5 years old with CP and Global developmental delay who we were in discussion about. After meeting with his parents and the social worker through zoom and looking through his medical records that were provided, and committing the matter to prayer we have determined that his level of disability is more than we can undertake in our rural area with limited supports. I have passed his case on to see if we can help in networking to find a forever family for him. If any of you are interested in helping. I can send you some basic information so that you can contact his social worker and agency.
We have decided to remain in relationship with the agency that we dialoged with about Roman as they share our values and have a $24,000 rate for their adoptions which would be attainable for us with our adoption account and grants for a private adoption.
I was able to finish up school on Friday as we were allowed to check out early so we did not have to come in today. Jake is finishing up a job, and I am taking a slower pace and playing catch up on household things that have fallen behind with the hectic May schedule. And of course I will have my fingers in the dirt, growing and planting things. Love ya'll and thanks for praying and standing with us. We believe that breakthrough is around the corner.
