We have been talking about pursuing infant adoption. Cassie called the agency she used to work for to see about getting started. She was sharing her heart about all we have gone through with Jax and our love for birth mothers and open adoptions and said we think we would feel okay with more difficult to place babies. They told her they have a birth mother that is expecting a baby with a rare genetic disorder called brittle bone disease. She has type 1 herself so the baby would either have type 1, which is the most mild, or he would just be a carrier. They didn't have any families willing to take him. We researched what it would mean. With type 1, he would have more fragile bones, but he would look like a typical baby. He would have a normal life span, just the potential for lots of bone breaks, but very manageable. We have seen with Jax what a blessing a special needs child can be on your life. We feel blessed and like we are in a place to adopt this baby. The agency told the birth mother we would love her baby either way, whether he actively has the disease or is just a carrier. She was excited and asked to meet Cassie. Cassie went with the agency director to meet the birth mom on March 29th. The meeting went beautifully and the birth mother wants to move forward with us. We are floored by the way the Lord moves when you open yourself to His plans. She is due June 3rd, but needs a c-section early to prevent her own bones from breaking in labor. That means baby boy will be born sometime in May! We have to quickly get our home study updated and raise the adoption funds, but believe God will provide. If you want to join us on our adoption journey to bring our son home, please consider donating to our fundraising goal.
With much love, Trevor, Cassie, Noelle and Jax
Hi friends! As most of you have heard by now Liam Michael Rogers was born on April 22, 2023. He came 6 weeks early and birthmom was not able to make it to Albuquerque because of that. Liam was transferred to the nearest NICU which happened to be in El Paso. He is cute as a button at 4 and a half pounds. He is working on being able to finish his bottles which takes a lot of energy for a premature baby. We are so thankful to everyone who has donated to helping bring Liam home. We recently have had some very generous friends come along side us to become matching donors for our fundraiser. There are 2 matching donors set up for up to $5,000 each. I am blown away by what this means. For every dollar you give they will match. That means if we get $5,000 donated both of these donor matches will match that all of of this combined would be $15,000! That would get us so much closer to our goal. We are grateful to have you all on this beautiful journey with us and can't wait for you to meet our baby boy.
Hi Everyone! Trevor and I are floored by how many people have already generously donated to our adoption. We are excited that our home study will be getting updated on the 15th and 16th and thanks to you it will be fully paid for! I set up the bassinet today and my mom helped me reorganize Jax's room to make space for him to share with baby brother. We have narrowed our list of baby boy names down to two, so hopefully we can make a decision soon. Our birth mother is coming into town at the end of the month for a doctor appointment. She is from a small town without a great hospital and is wanting to get established with UNMH to have her c-section in Albuquerque. We are thankful to soon have her nearby so we can love on her and help support her during this time. I'll update again when I have a c-section date to share.
The other day I was feeling anxious by some details and God gave me the most perfect verse. "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty warrior who will save, He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exalt over you with loud singing." Zephaniah 3:17 ESV. Now I am familiar with the part of the verse that says He rejoices over us with singing, but the part that really stuck out to me was how He will quiet us with His love! The NLT says, "with His love He will calm all your fears." Immediately I felt more peaceful and joyful. I am so thankful for a God that loves us so tenderly and specifically to remind us not to be afraid. We are just so excited and amazed by this precious gift of a new baby. We are thankful for your continued prayers.
Love,
The Rogers
