We have been talking about pursuing infant adoption. Cassie called the agency she used to work for to see about getting started. She was sharing her heart about all we have gone through with Jax and our love for birth mothers and open adoptions and said we think we would feel okay with more difficult to place babies. They told her they have a birth mother that is expecting a baby with a rare genetic disorder called brittle bone disease. She has type 1 herself so the baby would either have type 1, which is the most mild, or he would just be a carrier. They didn't have any families willing to take him. We researched what it would mean. With type 1, he would have more fragile bones, but he would look like a typical baby. He would have a normal life span, just the potential for lots of bone breaks, but very manageable. We have seen with Jax what a blessing a special needs child can be on your life. We feel blessed and like we are in a place to adopt this baby. The agency told the birth mother we would love her baby either way, whether he actively has the disease or is just a carrier. She was excited and asked to meet Cassie. Cassie went with the agency director to meet the birth mom on March 29th. The meeting went beautifully and the birth mother wants to move forward with us. We are floored by the way the Lord moves when you open yourself to His plans. She is due June 3rd, but needs a c-section early to prevent her own bones from breaking in labor. That means baby boy will be born sometime in May! We have to quickly get our home study updated and raise the adoption funds, but believe God will provide. If you want to join us on our adoption journey to bring our son home, please consider donating to our fundraising goal.
With much love, Trevor, Cassie, Noelle and Jax
