are adopting a child from United States of America

We have BIG news!

We are adopting!!

Ever since we got married in 2016, adoption has always been something we have considered. Adoption is a beautiful image of what the Lord has done for us as we have been adopted into His family (Galatians 4:4-7). We have seen both family and friends go before us in adopting children and have been encouraged by the outpouring of love that has been evident through the process.

After experiencing years of infertility, the blessing of our twin boys, and a devastating miscarriage– the Lord has continued to nudge us onto the path of adoption. We are incredibly excited about adding another child to our family. We know this process comes with many challenges and unknown circumstances ahead, but we serve a Sovereign God who goes before us.

We have decided to pursue domestic adoption as we know there are so many children in the United States who need stable, loving homes. Although we have been overwhelmed by the paperwork and process to get started, we cannot imagine the feelings of the birth parents who decide to pursue adoption for their child. We pray that God would perfectly orchestrate the family that will be united to ours through this adoption.

We have already been overwhelmed by our community who has prayed for us in our initial journey to become parents. We covet your continued prayers as we go through this process. Please pray for our family– that we may be patient in the waiting, follow the Lord’s lead in the decision process, and grow in wisdom as adoptive parents. Please pray for the birth parents– that they may feel Jesus’ love, that they may feel supported during this challenging situation, and that the Lord will guide them in their decisions. Please pray for baby Shope–that they would feel loved and cherished, for their safety and health, and that they would feel welcomed into our family.

Cost is the number one reason families do not adopt as it can cost up to $50,000 or more! This cost consists of home studies, legal fees, agency costs, travel expenses, etc. Although this number is shocking and intimidating, we know the Lord is faithful. He has proven His faithfulness over and over to our family over the years. We trust that the Lord will provide everything that is needed to see this through. So we ask that you prayerfully consider being a financial contributor to our adoption process as well.

Any donations given to our AdoptTogether page will be strictly used for adoption expenses. AdoptTogether is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are tax-deductible (note: 5% of all donations are used for processing fees). Any excess funds we raise will go to another family that is in the adoption process. We also plan to apply for grants and participate in other fundraising opportunities after our home study is complete. We will post updates of our journey on this page as well as on social media.

We are extremely grateful to all of you– for your encouraging words, your prayers, and your financial contributions. We will keep you updated throughout the process and look forward to celebrating an addition to our family in the near future! God is good!

Love, The Shope Fam

    Yard Sale Success!

    April 29, 2026

We are overwhelmed with gratitude! We received so many donations of items for our yard sale! We had clothes, home decor items, furniture, electronics, bikes, toys, and more! We had friends and family loan us tables, help us run the sale, share the sale with friends, and shop the sale themselves! Over two days, we were able to raise almost $2,500! We also were able to have that amount generously MATCHED! So our yard sale helped bring in around $5,000 for our adoption journey.

Adoptions can range anywhere from $20,000-$50,000 depending on medical costs, travel, and lawyer fees. We have already raised the lower end of that range! As we finalize some items with our adoption agency, we will begin to receive e-mails about potential matches. The birth mother/parents will review different families and prayerfully one will choose us!

We ask for your continued prayers. We have seen God orchestrating our adoption story beautifully, and we are excited to continue to see how it unfolds ahead of us. We are so incredibly thankful to serve a Sovereign, Loving, Patient, and Caring Father.

We will continue to keep you updated on potential matches and what is needed as we continue on this journey. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to know more!

    Reese is here!

    March 31, 2026

Two weeks ago we welcomed our miracle boy, Reese. Rhett and Casey are so excited to be big brothers! They are always wanting to hold him, hug him, and make sure he's ok. We are so incredibly thankful to all of you for your support, encouragement, and prayers during this time.

We completed our home study at the end of February and it will be finalized shortly once we add Reese's paperwork (birth certificate, medical forms, etc.) to our application. Once finalized, the main obstacle is financing the adoption.

We have two exciting fundraisers we are looking forward to-- and we need your help!

The first fundraiser is a yard sale. Our location is the perfect spot for a yard sale, so we will be looking to have one towards the end of April. If you have any items to donate, we would be happy to set up a time for pick up or drop off. All proceeds from the yard sale will go directly towards financing our adoption. Please contact Tim or Courtney if you are able to donate items for our yard sale! :)

The second fundraiser is through an amazing organization called Both Hands. Before we can apply, we need to gather a team together. We are looking for 10 or more individuals who would want to be on our team! Our team gathers sponsorships through sending letters to friends and family. Then one day this summer, we serve a widow in our community-- often through landscaping or painting. Please see this link for more information: https://bothhands.org/how-it-works/ Please contact Tim or Courtney if you would like to join our team or have any questions! Once we have our team together, we will apply to the program and get everything started!

Once again we want to thank all of you for your donations, encouragement, and prayers. We ask for your continued prayers as we trust in the Lord's timing at orchestrating everything according to His plan.

    Home Study, Here We Come!

    February 12, 2026

We had our virtual home study back in November where we were able to connect with our Adoption Agency and ask questions about the process. We used some of the funds we raised to pay our Home Study Fees and planned to schedule the in-person shortly after. However, the Holidays came--- as well as the busyness of the season.

But now, we now have our home study on the calendar! The end of the paperwork is in sight, and our home study will be completed on Tuesday, February 17th. We ask for your prayers as we go through this step of the adoption process.

Once our home study is completed, we wait for approval. Once approved, we will begin to be contacted about birth mothers seeking a family for their child. If we fit the preferences of the birth mother, we can ask for our family to be considered as an option.

We don't know the timing of how long it will be to be matched or how far along a birth mother might be in her pregnancy when we are eventually matched. However, I am excited to get to that point because I know God has all those details sorted out. Once we have the funds necessary, and the birth mother has chosen our family, we will be on our way to welcoming another baby to our family.

Please continue to pray for our future child, the birth mother and family, and our family as we prepare to welcome a baby.

    God's Blessings Never Cease!

    November 22, 2025

When we began our adoption paperwork this summer, we felt called to say we were open to 2 kiddos or twins. Little did we know that us being open to 2 more additions to our family would mean one of those would be biological. We have been absolutely blown away by God’s faithfulness.

I remember in high school saying that I wanted 4 kids with at least one adopted. When we decided to pursue growing our family, we were faced with so many challenges. I began to accept that my dream would not become reality. BUT GOD. He stepped in and has begun to bring my dream to fruition.

In March, we will welcome another baby boy. I never pictured myself as a boy mom– but I can’t imagine it any other way! I’ve been soaking up every moment of this pregnancy knowing that nothing is guaranteed and this is most likely my last time growing a baby.

We have also experienced so much gratitude with our community who has supported us in the adoption process so far. We have raised over $15,000 towards adopting another baby! We don’t know what the timing of our 4th addition will be, but we trust that God’s timing is perfect. He has proven that over and over again with each child we have added to our family. We are so thankful to all of you who have supported us with prayers, words of encouragement, and financially.

We Made It to 200 Miles!

    November 16, 2025

Last weekend, my dad and I finished 200 miles on the Tennessee Trace Ride for Adoption. Bright and early (well, not so bright but definitely early) Friday morning, my dad and I started our journey at the end of the Natchez Trace in Nashville, TN. We finished the first half our ride almost 12 hours later as we crossed into Alabama and arrived at our Bed & Breakfast for the night. We began just as early Saturday morning and completed 200 miles around 4:30 PM.

Needless to say, I'm exhausted and still recovering from the ride, but I'm so grateful for the experience and especially for your support. I would not have been able to make it without your prayers and your pledges.

We sent out emails to those who pledged earlier today (Sunday, November 16th) with instructions on how to complete your donation through Adopt Together. If you didn't receive the email or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Again, thank you so much for your support during this ride and through this adoption process. We appreciate each and every one of you!

    - Tim
