Tim & Courtney Shope
are adopting a child from United States of America
We have BIG news!
We are adopting!!
Ever since we got married in 2016, adoption has always been something we have considered. Adoption is a beautiful image of what the Lord has done for us as we have been adopted into His family (Galatians 4:4-7). We have seen both family and friends go before us in adopting children and have been encouraged by the outpouring of love that has been evident through the process.
After experiencing years of infertility, the blessing of our twin boys, and a devastating miscarriage– the Lord has continued to nudge us onto the path of adoption. We are incredibly excited about adding another child to our family. We know this process comes with many challenges and unknown circumstances ahead, but we serve a Sovereign God who goes before us.
We have decided to pursue domestic adoption as we know there are so many children in the United States who need stable, loving homes. Although we have been overwhelmed by the paperwork and process to get started, we cannot imagine the feelings of the birth parents who decide to pursue adoption for their child. We pray that God would perfectly orchestrate the family that will be united to ours through this adoption.
We have already been overwhelmed by our community who has prayed for us in our initial journey to become parents. We covet your continued prayers as we go through this process. Please pray for our family– that we may be patient in the waiting, follow the Lord’s lead in the decision process, and grow in wisdom as adoptive parents. Please pray for the birth parents– that they may feel Jesus’ love, that they may feel supported during this challenging situation, and that the Lord will guide them in their decisions. Please pray for baby Shope–that they would feel loved and cherished, for their safety and health, and that they would feel welcomed into our family.
Cost is the number one reason families do not adopt as it can cost up to $50,000 or more! This cost consists of home studies, legal fees, agency costs, travel expenses, etc. Although this number is shocking and intimidating, we know the Lord is faithful. He has proven His faithfulness over and over to our family over the years. We trust that the Lord will provide everything that is needed to see this through. So we ask that you prayerfully consider being a financial contributor to our adoption process as well.
Any donations given to our AdoptTogether page will be strictly used for adoption expenses. AdoptTogether is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are tax-deductible (note: 5% of all donations are used for processing fees). Any excess funds we raise will go to another family that is in the adoption process. We also plan to apply for grants and participate in other fundraising opportunities after our home study is complete. We will post updates of our journey on this page as well as on social media.
We are extremely grateful to all of you– for your encouraging words, your prayers, and your financial contributions. We will keep you updated throughout the process and look forward to celebrating an addition to our family in the near future! God is good!
Love, The Shope Fam

Update 2
First Fundraiser!
October 23, 2025Hello, Friends! Several weeks ago, Courtney and I announced that we are planning to adopt. We are truly grateful to each of you who has already donated to our adoption fund, and to those of you who continue to pray for us during this journey. We are truly blessed to have so many loving and caring individuals in our lives.
As many of you know, my dad is an avid cyclist who completes an annual bike ride across Ohio to raise funds for several local pregnancy centers. A few months ago, I approached my dad with a similar fundraising idea that would help us continue to raise funds for our adoption. So, on November 7th and 8th, my dad and I will ride the entire Tennessee portion of the Natchez Trace on consecutive days to raise funds for our adoption fund on Adopt Together. We will ride from the start of the Natchez Trace to the Tennessee-Alabama border (about 100 miles) on Friday, then ride back to the beginning of the Natchez Trace on Saturday (about 100 miles again, of course). Check out the website here: TennesseeTraceRide.com
Again, we're so thankful for your donations and prayers. Another way you can support us is simply by sharing information about the Tennessee Trace Ride with your friends and families. Thank you! -
Update 1
It's Facebook Official!
September 16, 2025We wanted to share publicly with all our friends and family, here is our latest post. Feel free to share it, if you'd like!
We are excited to publicly share that we are adopting!
The boys are so excited to add to our family! Tim and I have always had a heart for adoption since we were young and have been so encouraged by so many people in our community who have also gone through the adoption process.
We first looked into adoption during our 3 years of infertility, but when we found out we were pregnant– we put it on pause for a future time. The Lord continued to place adoption on our hearts as we welcomed the boys into our home. After our miscarriage early last year, we began the process with Adoption Assistance once again! We were a little slow moving, as the whole process felt intimidating, unknown, and a little scary. But the Lord continued to mold our hearts and prepare us for the next steps.
Early this summer, we fully dove into the process and began training and the mountain of paperwork. We have gathered references, gotten check-ups at the doctors, got our fingerprints done, and filled out lots of other papers.
Once our paperwork and training is completed, we will schedule a home study where an agent from the adoption agency will come visit our home to make sure we are a good fit to adopt a child. After that, we can be matched with any birth mom that partners with the agency… as long as we fit what they are looking for, and we have the funds necessary.
We have already had so many loved ones write references for us, pray for us, donate, and send us encouraging messages. THANK YOU!! This process is still intimidating, unknown, and a little scary, but we are thankful for a God that goes before us and prepares the way. If you are wanting to support us in this adventure, we ask for your prayers and support as we figure out God’s perfect timing in welcoming a beautiful child in our home to love. And if you feel led to contribute financially or just want to follow along with our journey, visit our Adopt Together website: https://adopttogether.org/families/the-shopes-1
We look forward to the goodness and joy ahead as we prepare for another addition to our family!
