  Home Study Complete and Approved to Adopt! Next Steps? ...

  Greetings!

  The Willard family has had a busy Spring and Summer. But we have remained diligent to make progress in our adoption journey. By God's grace, we recently completed our home study and were officially approved to move forward to adopt! Our hearts are filled with gratitude and overflowing with joy.

  What's a home study, you might be wondering? It's a series of interviews where a caseworker from our adoption agency asks us pointed questions to learn about us for the purpose of determining whether we are fit to adopt. These interviews were extensive, but incredibly helpful. Also included in the home study process was an inspection of our house. After a month of interviews and the inspection, our home study was complete.

  So, what's next for us? Now, we move on to creating a family profile and completing our fundraising process.

  First, a family profile is a digital photo book that tells the story of our family. Once our adoption agency thinks there may be a match for us, our family profile will be presented to the expecting mother who has courageously chosen a plan of adoption for her child. The expectant mother is able to study our family and choose whether she wants her child to be adopted into our family.

  Second, on the fundraising side, we are in the process of applying for several adoption grants, which we are praying will help us get closer to our financial goal. For several of these grants, there is a September 30 deadline. We were waiting for our home study to be complete before we apply for these grants, because most of them will only allow you to apply once you have a completed home study. So, for the next few weeks, we will be busy filling out applications and trusting the Lord to continue providing for us.

  God has already been so faithful to provide for us, and especially through your prayers and generosity! We are deeply thankful for each of you. Please continue to pray for us as our desire is to adopt before the end of the year. And if you feel led to do so, we welcome any donation you are able to make to help us reach our goal.

  Update and New Fundraising Opportunity!

  Greetings, friends!

  We continue to be grateful for your support and prayers. As we've been told many times by those who have adopted, this adoption process is a long one, filled with ups and downs, blessings and challenges. We are so thankful for your prayers to keep us encouraged and hope-filled for what God has in store for us. It's because of people like you and prayers like the ones you are lifting for us that we are remaining strong in our faith as we follow Christ in this incredible journey!

  Currently, we are still completing paper work, background checks, training, and certifications. We have a two-day training coming up on February 16-17 in which we will receive helpful teaching on various aspects of the adoption process. Once we finish our current paper work, background checks, training, and certifications, we will, Lord willing, move on to our home study. Please continue to pray that the Lord would continue empowering us to keep moving forward one step at a time.

  Also, we are incredibly grateful for all those who have contributed financially to our adoption journey! We have now raised over $7,000! We still have a ways to go to fulfill our goal of becoming fully funded, but every dollar given has been received with joy, hopefulness, and thankfulness.

  Update on Our Adoption Journey!

  Greetings friends!

  It's been a few weeks now since we went public with our story of adoption. The response from each of you has been incredible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, kind words of encouragement, and your financial support.

  We are currently in "Step 2" of our adoption process, which consists of paperwork, background checks, training, and more. We hope to complete this step in the next month or so. Once we do, we will move on to our home study, which will consist of interviews with a case worker and inspections of our home. With the busyness of the holidays, we have found it difficult to make significant progress in Step 2. So, please pray for us, that the Lord in His kindness would grant us focused time and energy to complete this important step so we can move on to our home study.
