As our initial December due date came and went for our previous adoption match, Evan and I found ourselves in a grief cycle we didn’t know we were in. We were ready to pause this entire journey and start fresh in 2025.
But on December 8th, everything flipped. We were notified of a mom that wanted to talk to us. The two of us said we would give it a thought but if we weren’t chosen we would revert to the pause we discussed earlier. After a week of talking we drove up the following weekend to northern Indiana to meet her. By the weekend’s end we were chosen.
As many of you know, we've been looking forward to starting a family this past year. Despite our best efforts, the biological route hasn't panned out as we hoped. Faced with a medical infertility diagnosis, we have decided the best path forward to us is adoption.
We know a private adoption is a journey filled with its own challenges, including financial ones. The estimated costs range from $40,000 to $50,000. When all is said and done, the final expense will be close to $55,000 as there were expenses from the initial match that were lost (monies we knew would be at risk).
We've set up this platform to help manage some of these expenses. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference as we work to pay off the remaining balance of our adoption.
