  While We Wait

  April 7, 2025

  "I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"

  Psalm 27:13-14

  When we first started our adoption journey, we hit the ground running. Everything moved quickly and smoothly and we were getting so excited because it felt like we'd be parents in no time. Then, everything came to a halt at the end of February.

  There are many reasons for waiting. Some are simply that we are working with a flawed system, things take time, processes need to be followed.
  But we know that this journey we are on is completely out of our control. God knows exactly when everything will happen. To us, it often seems like nothing is happening and that's frustrating. We go days and weeks without hearing anything and we start to wonder what's going on.
  But in those moments, God has given us a glimpse of what He is doing in the background. We are constantly in awe of how He is in every detail of this process.
  So while we wait, we will trust Him, serve Him, praise Him and be patient. We know that God is going to do what He is going to do with us in the way or not. So we are choosing to take a backseat and watch as God orchestrates His beautiful and perfect plan for us, our babies and their first mom.

  WE ARE HOME STUDY APPROVED!!

  February 23, 2025

  After many months of paperwork, meeting with our social workers, more paperwork, home inspections and still more paperwork, we have officially been approved by the state of WI to adopt!! We can't begin to tell you how excited we are to be moving onto the next step in the process.

  What is the next step? Good question, let us tell you.

  Now that we are approved, we join the pool of waiting families to receive a "match". That means, our information and our "profile" is shared with birth mom's who have decided that they want an adoptive family to adopt their baby. These birth mom's will have an opportunity to look through the profiles of waiting families and they get to decided. We know that ultimately God is the one who has already chosen that birth mom and her baby to be part of our family and we pray for the Lord's guidance over her as she makes that incredibly hard decision.

  Because Wisconsin has a rather long waiting list, we were advised to go beyond our state border to be considered by birth mom's in other states around the country. In order to do this, we have chosen to work with an organization called Mustard Seed. They are a consulting firm who helps families "be seen" by many different agencies in many different states. They are an incredible organization and we are so blessed to be working with them. As we wait, we continue to prepare our home and ourselves to welcome a baby or babies into our family.

  Financial Update:
  We continue to raise money as we prepare for our placement fee (The amount needed when the baby is born).
  This amount is not known exactly which makes it hard to save and hard to ask for help, but this is the largest amount we will need. We are pursuing some grant options as well as other fund raising options. If you know of ways that would help, we'd love to hear about them.

  How can you help? To those who have given, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. We appreciate you SO MUCH! To those who are still considering giving, we'd ask that you continue to pray and give as the Lord leads. We'd also like to ask those of you who are willing, to share our story on your social media platforms.   A place to bring our baby home to

  February 11, 2025

  As we wait for our home study to be approved, we just wanted to share this beautiful space that is prepared for when we bring our baby home. It was a labor of love and through the generous donations of furniture and time, this space transformed into a wonderful little place for our baby. Its our favorite room in the house now.

  Nursery Update

  December 11, 2024

  With our home study visit only a week away, we've been working hard to get the nursery completed. Kevin spent the weekend painting and we picked out carpet which will be installed this coming Saturday. We are so very thankful to those who have helped make this space a cozy welcoming place to bring baby Belfield home to. A few times now I've walked in there and just tried to imagine all the memories that will be made in that room. We look forward to sharing the finished results of this room.

  Financial Update... We need about $2,000 more to complete our home study.

  Prayer... Today please pray specifically for the first mother of our baby. Pray for her as she makes some big decisions. Pray for her health and the health of the baby, pray for her safety in whatever life circumstances she is in. Finally pray for her salvation.

  Home Study Step One

  December 4, 2024

  We have our first home visit scheduled for December 19th. We received all the paperwork and immediately filled it out. While we wait for the 19th, we have been working hard to make our home ready. We cleaned out the bedroom that will be the nursery and Kevin is getting ready to paint it. Bethany has been going room to room decluttering each space. I guess you could consider this a form of nesting. We look forward to sharing the finished nursery with you.

  Prayer Requests...
  - For the mother of our baby(s) as she is facing some big decisions about the future of her child. Pray for her heart that she would come to know Jesus. Pray for her safety and provision. We thank the Lord for her and this gift that she is giving us. We know that's not an easy decision for her and we want to honor her, respect her and love her the best we are able.
  - For our marriage as we journey to become parents. That we would grow closer during this season and be unified in every decision we need to make.
  -For financial provision. The Lord has been so good to us already in providing funds which we are so thankful for and we know He will continue to provide for each financial need as it arrises.

  Financial Requests...
  -We are well on our way to having enough to pay for the home study portion which is $3200 but we've got a little ways to go.
  - After the home study, we will be signing a contract with Mustard Seed Adoption Consultants. To start that contract we need $5,500
