John & Meagan Tripp

are adopting a child from Costa Rica

We have exciting news! We’re adopting! As a family, we are feeling joyful and grateful to God that we can begin this amazing journey.

For a long time we've wanted another child. After struggling with infertility we thought we would have to let that dream go. However, in the last year God has guided us to dream again and in a way we hadn’t planned on. With faith, we have taken the first steps to adopt internationally.

John and I were drawn to international adoption because we love working with students that are new to the U.S. We thought Costa Rica was a good fit because John has traveled there twice already, and we were amazed when our adoption agent told us it was a perfect fit for us! It is our hope to be placed with a 6-8 year-old by the summer of 2026.

As we embark on this journey, our hope is that people will join us in 3 ways: ● prayer and encouragement ● financial support ● spread the word about our fundraising campaign

Our goal is to raise $35,000 to cover all the expenses that are involved in the adoption process. We inviting you to join the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up!

    Christmas Once Again

    December 18, 2024

Ethan’s Christmas program was last night. Last year I brought my mom, and on the way home I cried my eyes out, because I wanted another child and a sibling for Ethan, and it felt so impossible. I told her that it was so hard to let a dream die, but I was really trying. Mom’s response was always—let’s try something, she never said, “You’ll get used to this.” It was after that night I started praying about international adoption. Mom loved the idea. She was excited to have another grandchild, and ready to throw caution to the wind.

Thank you Mom, for the encouragement. Our passports arrived on Sunday!

Thank you for everyone who has purchased ornaments and donated to our site. It’s humbling and inspiring to receive support from so many different friends and family members!

    Ornament Fundraiser!

    December 10, 2024

My mother-in law hand painted and created a beautiful collection of ornaments for us to sell to raise money for the adoption! Thank you to everyone that has purchased ornaments! Your generosity is such a life-giving gift.

Blessed through the pages of a book…

    October 29, 2024

Adoption Update: We received the most incredible donation. John and Ethan came home to find a few books left by the front door. They took the books inside and started flipping through the pages to see what they were about. Slipped quietly between the sheets was a large family of Benjamin Franklins. Ethan was pretty wide eyed when he told me, but I couldn’t believe it until they showed me.

They were from a good friend who prefers to remain anonymous. It made me reflect on all the many, incredibly generous and kind donations we received. I’m falling behind on saying thank you. I’m falling behind on a lot of things at the moment with the adoption, so I am working frantically to finish all the paperwork and education courses that were supposed to be done weeks ago. At least I should be frantic, but the Lord has kept me calm. And everyone’s incredible encouragement and support has kept our spirits high. Thank you!

    Hoping We Check Out!

    October 8, 2024

Adoption Update: The immediate background checks are completed and submitted to Holt. The FBI fingerprinting and the passport application will have to wait until after cross country. The District Meet is Thursday!

Ethan had his first two rehearsals for A Christmas Carol on Sunday and Monday nights. It’s intense singing practice at the moment, but he seems to be up to the challenge. He’s pretty excited about his access badge for the Omaha community Playhouse. VIP!

    Smiling

    September 22, 2024

Adoption Update: Today I found our tax returns, marriage license, and all of our birth certificates. It feels like a miracle, and I can breathe a long and lovely sigh of relief. I had it in my head that something was going to be missing and need to be replaced. Next steps: FBI clearance, complete with fingerprints. I can’t help but be a little intrigued. Also good news, much of the swelling has gone away and I can kind of smile again.

I am shy to post a link to our fundraising page because people have been so incredibly generous. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! Your support means so much to us! ❤️
