We have exciting news! We’re adopting! As a family, we are feeling joyful and grateful to God that we can begin this amazing journey.
For a long time we've wanted another child. After struggling with infertility we thought we would have to let that dream go. However, in the last year God has guided us to dream again and in a way we hadn’t planned on. With faith, we have taken the first steps to adopt internationally.
John and I were drawn to international adoption because we love working with students that are new to the U.S. We thought Costa Rica was a good fit because John has traveled there twice already, and we were amazed when our adoption agent told us it was a perfect fit for us! It is our hope to be placed with a 6-8 year-old by the summer of 2026.
As we embark on this journey, our hope is that people will join us in 3 ways: ● prayer and encouragement ● financial support ● spread the word about our fundraising campaign
Our goal is to raise $35,000 to cover all the expenses that are involved in the adoption process. We inviting you to join the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up!
On Thursday I had the big surgery. After an unfortunate infection, quite a bit of bone in my mouth disappeared and now a total of five teeth have had to be removed, including two former implants. On Thursday they added a large amount of bone to my mouth. My body could accept it, or reject it. If it accepts the bone, I will be able to move forward with as strip of five interconnected implants (in approximately 7 months).
The infection and its aftermath left me feeling like the only thing left for me was to hunker down and brace myself for the physical and financial blows that were going to hit both me and my family. It seemed like it was time to stop dreaming and go into survival mode.
Dreams don’t die easy though. The Lord told me to step out in faith. John received the same message. Ethan, well he’s still not so sure. Today I started my first online adoption training. By the end of the week we should be contracted and ready to move forward with the home study through Holt International.
Thank you so much to everyone who has prayed for us and donated money. Your support is so encouraging, like a delicious sip of sunshine.
Dossier is a fancy word for a collection of important documents. This is our next, and busiest part of the process. Today we secured an October appointment with a friendly psychologist who is an expert in international adoption. We also connected with an adoption supervisor at Lutheran Family Services who can help us with the home study. Will our minds and our home measure up? One thing is for sure, they will love our garden!
